It pays to be organized and have someone or a group that is capable and providing oversight for each other to handle this. I am not sure how everyone keeps track of licensing but I know there are software solutions for this as well as vendors that will do it for you. Not sure how much I would trust a vendor though but I guess that is another topic. Your route to keeping all this straight would no doubt also depend on how large an organization you are. At home I use OneNote extensively and set up calendar reminders for the few licenses that I have but I do at least know this is a makeshift solution. My consequences are less though than a large business whose servers depend on active licenses.
