All of the caveats that apply to RAID 5 apply to RAID 50. You would look at RAID 6, 60 or 10 instead of RAID 50.

Dell, for example, when finally pressured to remove RAID 5 from its interfaces removed both RAID 5 and RAID 50 at the same time. RAID 50 is simply a RAID 0 stripe of RAID 5 sets. While the sets are smaller, the fundamental RAID 5 frailty remains.
